This chocolate peanut butter mug cake is the perfect quick sweet treat made in the microwave! The peanut butter mousse takes it over the top.
If you love this recipe, make sure you try my mug brownie and mug pumpkin pie!
So I'm pretty much going crazy about this amazing weather. I mean, 80s and sunny in mid-March? YES PLEASE, OBVIOUSLY.
But. There is one bad thing about this fabulous weather. One horrible... horrible, putrid thing that mars this groundhog-defying warmth.
You see, my little brother Boots loves boots. Shocking, I know. But it does pose a problem. You see, these are snow boots that I'm talking about. They're big. They're hot. They're black. To top it all off, he refuses to wear socks. Pair this with 85ยบ weather, and I think you'll begin to understand what I mean.
And Boots wiggles his toes in front of my face as if to say, "just these five little piggies".
And then my nose falls off and I die.
So we coax him into washing his feet by telling him horrible tales germs that like to live on stinky toes.
After such an episode today I found him sitting on the bathroom counter with his feet in the sink, pouring Listerine over them.
Okay... that works I guess.

Anyways, enough about grossness. How about some deliciousness? Yes? Yes.
This is a five minute chocolate mug cake that is laced with peanut butter. It's dangerously easy.
It's topped with a fluffy peanut butter mousse that tastes exactly like peanut butter pie, which takes two seconds to make. Dangerous.
Top that with hot fudge. Very dangerous indeed.
That's the batter in case you were wondering. I don't like my cakes quite that raw.
And please. Use this hot fudge. It's so much better than any others you will ever find in the whole wide world.

Yumm just made this but only the cake part because I didn't have any cream cheese. It's delicious!
ReplyDeleteThis was HEAVENLY.
ReplyDeleteThis looks out of this world! Why oh why does this have to be so EASY to make--I'm doomed haha. Found this on foodgawker and glad I clicked through; always love finding other young bakers :)
ReplyDeleteDang, girl, you've got skills! I made it tonight for myself and my husband and we both liked it very much! I'm looking forward to checking out what else you've got on your site.
ReplyDeleteNever knew another person who knew about Sanders fudge!! It is THE best in the world. They don't sell it where I live, so I have it shipped by the case!!
ReplyDeleteI miss Sanders too. Moved from Michigan and after discovering I can't get it here, I bought 6 jars of their caramel (butterscotch caramel) sauce to bring back last time I visited there!
DeleteWhat a great gift idea! Gonna have to try this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Sooooooooo good! I've tried other mug cakes that end up tasting dense. But this is phenomenal! Yes, I am eating it right now :P
ReplyDeleteSo excited to try this
ReplyDeleteThe story about your brother almost made me fall off my chair, it took me back. Boots was a nickname I recieved several years back because I too wear big black boots all year (kind of an oddity being a girl in Texas) but it all started when I was about 7 and fell in love with Star Wars when it was released. Now over the years I have used an assortment of different products to keep terrible smells way for me and the boots but I don't think I've ever tried Listerine. Such a cute story I'm going to have to share this with my mother.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try your recipe looks delicious!
I don't see what the story about stinky feet has to do with this mug cake... Why do foodie bloggers love sharing their life story? It actually grossed me out to the point where I almost left this page. Thank goodness I just skipped right to the recipe. It looks quite delicious.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree on the grossness. I love the life stories but was gagging a bit at this one. I don't know if I could even make this recipe now without thinking of the story. It was a poor choice :(
DeleteThat was very rude. She was sharing a sentimental story from her past that makes her happy. Is the negativity really needed? I guess a better word for it would be ignorance. Just keep your mouth shut next time. Preferably with the delicious recipes from this site :)
DeleteFuck you. ^
ReplyDeleteeaaaasy, now.
DeleteI just made this and its really dry. The only peanut butter I had was Skippy Natural, could that make a difference?
ReplyDeleteI'd say it has more to do with microwaving the cake longer than you needed to.
Deleteohhhhh my! this thing is almost 1,200 calories! YUM! And that is with out the hot fudge!
ReplyDeleteIf this is going to be a sweet treat, add more sugar. I put the 2 tablespoons as advised... should be more like 4... At least.. but that's just me...
ReplyDeleteBy my calculations there are approx. 1410 calories per serve! Enjoy in moderation! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI was all for trying this out until I read the disgusting story about the boots...totally turned off the idea because now when I think about this recipe all that's going to go through my mind is a very gross foot story that has nothing to do with chocolate peanut butter mug cake!
ReplyDeleteThis is soo amazing. It wasnt too dry or too moist. Omg thank you. Im just worried about how many calories this is.
ReplyDeleteToo dry, too salty, gutted I wasted that much peanut butter!
ReplyDelete3 tablespoon isn't alot? ^
ReplyDeleteAnyways this was absolutely amazing. Sooo simple and easy to create. And you can carry it anywhere!
This was so delicious and so simple. I'm 12 and I'm constantly cooking/baking for my hospitality and human services class, so this was perfect to practice my skills. I may have to tell my teacher about this. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the recipe didn't seem to work out correctly for me. Is it maybe because of the amount of time i put it in (it was more to the 2 min side)?
ReplyDeleteExtremely dry and way too much salt. It tasted like the coco powder itself. If you want to try this, save yourself some time and eat a spoonful of coco powder by itself.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, why is it,that people think it is their duty to share their negative comments with the world? If you do not think you can fix this due to your perception of her story, then fine - just move along. I do have to think that you must have had a very dull and boring childhood if this story is so appalling to you. I think it is cute and reminds me of some family memories of my own. If you cannot say something nice, then do NOT say anything at all. Your negative opinion is not that important to anyone but you in your tiny little mind. Now, move on and have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThis was really dry, really salty, and had way too much cocoa powder.
ReplyDeleteLove you for sharing such epic idea
ReplyDeleteI just tried this. I like PB. And, I like chocolate. It's a proven winner. And to have them together in a Mug Cake... Winner! I did adjust the recipe a bit. I thought it was extremely dense batter. So, I added a couple of splashes of Bailey's. That helped.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this recipe! It made my heart smile!
