Two Minute Mug Brownie

Meet my brother, Tay.

You remember him... symmetrical moles on both cheeks, eats a pan of granola bars every day and requests a midnight meal every night, mysteriously remains as skinny as a dried up string bean.

Also, the other day he woke up and pranced downstairs saying, "Guys! I must have done a really manly deed yesterday!!!"

And I was like, "Whaa-?"

So he was like, "LOOK".

He had grown a chest hair in the night. My little Tay with a chest hair. I don't even know what to think.

Also I can never decide if I should clean the outside of the dish before photographing, or photoshop the stray chocolate off afterwards. Usually the latter. I'm an incredibly lazy woman.

Anyways, now that Tay is "a man", he needs emergency man snacks. Apparently men need emergency snacks too. For guys though it's more like, "I need to be huge and manly and eat everything in the house right now and it's an emergency."

I don't know, this looks more like a girl's emergency snack to me, but I guess chocolate reaches out to all genders and peoples of the world.

Oh, hello. How did that get there? I think I can find a home for you. IN MY BELLY.

Actually in Tay's belly.

Actually he's weird and doesn't like ice cream so he made me scrape it off and put a scoop of frozen cool whip on it.

I'm cool with that too though.

So anyways, this is really easy. Too easy. Literally about two minutes from start to finish. And you won't even have to clean the bowl because you'll be licking out every single last morsel. I mean, you can just put it right back in the cupboard and nobody will ever know. Heh.

So you just mix up all the stuff in a ramekin or a mug or whatever you have that can go in the microwave.

Okay, now zap it for a minute. Watch it so you can stop it if it starts overflowing.

And the rest is history. Like, literally within five seconds it will be history.

It makes me want to sing para, para, PARADISE

I'm sorry we're all so fat.

Two Minute Mug Brownie

1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg yolk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons chocolate chips

Put the butter and sugar in a microwavable ramekin, dish, or mug. Microwave until bubbly. Mix in the the rest of the ingredients in the order written and stir until smooth. Turn microwave power down to about 50% (you'll have to experiment with your microwave. If it gets dried out, your power is probably too high). Cook it for about one to two minutes until desired doneness is reached.

Well, that was fun. Come over to Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. We'll have even more fun there. Bye.

  3. This has been my go-to recipe since I moved away for college back in 2012. It's 2024 now and I've graduated college twice, bought a house, and gotten married, and I still make this little mug of joy when I just NEED a chocolate fix. I pulled the recipe up today and thought to myself "shoot Tay must be grown now, it's been 12 years!!" and it made me laugh. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this back in 2012!
